"HAPPY- HAPPY HEALTHY PEOPLE"

                WHY HEALTHY PEOPLE ARE

                           HAPPY?

Happiness is good. It provides us with a sense of optimism, a “take on the world” attitude and a positivity that can be infectious. Happiness is a state of mind. Means that we create that happiness. If you are in depression, do contacts your significant others. Tell them what you fell and discuss for solutions. Being lonely and thinking over about your current situation without trying to create happy environment will not change your condition. List all the good things you would love to do. And do it with your significant other. Thus, you will forget the thing/ problem that cause your depression and start to create new situation. You will need a very supportive environment, do tell them what you feel right now, and explain how hard it is.

Everyone attempts to find happiness in three ways:

Doing good for others; doing things you’re good at; and doing things that are good for you.

For most people, happiness is a sense of purpose and well-being. This positive attitude translates to a variety of effects on a person’s health both physically and mentally, including:

  1. Opening a person’s mind to positivity: Optimism and vitality are critical to a person’s well-being.
  2. Improving a person’s problem-solving ability: Positive-minded individuals believe they “can” and want to achieve their goals.
  3. Building physical, intellectual and social resources: This allows people to learn better because they seek other positive-minded people.

LINK BETWEEN HEALTH AND HAPPINESS:

There is a strong relationship between happiness and health. Your immune system is directly connected to the amount of stress that you endure. Being happy releases serotonin and serotonin is very important in leveling out your hormones and keeping you happy. So if you're happy then your immune system works better and a happy immune system is a healthier person overall. Happy people can easily promote a wide range of lifestyle habits that are good for their health. Happy people tend to consume nutritious foods such as whole grains, vegetables, and fruits. Diets containing vegetables and fruits have been found to reduce the risk of stroke, diabetes, and heart disease. Regular exercise boosts energy levels, builds strong bones, lowers blood pressure, and reduces body fat. It also boosts productivity, concentration, performance, and promotes good sleeping habits. Being happy helps in the management of stress. Chronic stress leads to an increase in cortisol, a hormone responsible for various harmful stress effects. Happiness also minimizes the risk of heart disease which is one of the biggest causes of death in the world. It also appears that happiness can protect people who already have heart problems. Happy people are also willing to adopt heart-healthy behaviors such as exercising, consuming nutritious foods, and avoiding smoking. Being happy also enhances physical functioning in people with this health condition. Happiness can also reduce or eliminate other painful health conditions. Happy people also have lower pain ratings since their positivity helps in broadening their perspective thus encouraging new ideas and thoughts.

FIVE WAYS HAPPINESS IS GOOD FOR YOUR HEALTH:

1. HAPPINESS PROTECTS YOUR HEART

Love and happiness may not actually originate in the heart, but they are good for it. Research has also uncovered a link between happiness and another measure of heart health: heart rate variability, which refers to the time interval between heartbeats and is associated with risk for various diseases. Ten years later, the researchers checked in with the participants to see how they were doing—and it turned out that the happier ones were less likely to have developed coronary heart disease. In fact, for each one-point increase in positive emotions they had expressed, their heart disease risk was 22 percent lower.

2.HAPPINESS COMBATS STRESS

Stress is not only upsetting on a psychological level but also triggers biological changes in our hormones and blood pressure. Happiness seems to temper these effects, or at least help us recover more quickly. Happiness also seems to carry benefits even when stress is inevitable.

3.HAPPINESS STRENGTHENS YOUR IMMUNE SYSTEM

A healthy immune system is important for overall health. Research has shown that being happier may help keep your immune system strong .This may help reduce your risk of developing colds and chest infections .

One study in over 300 healthy people looked at the risk of developing a cold after individuals were given a common cold virus via nasal drops. The least happy people were almost three times as likely to develop the common cold compared to their happier counterparts .

The immune system can only perform as it should, if cared for properly. This means getting all the right nutrients in recommended proportions (balanced diet) and providing the right environment to thrive. For  example, the exposure to toxic chemicals, household cleaners, pesticides and herbicides, or radiation greatly affects one’s  immunity. Stress also affects immunity by producing more free radicals that cause harm.

4.HAPPINESS COMBATS DISEASE AND DISABILITY

Happiness leads to improvements with long-term conditions as well. As adults become elderly, another condition that often afflicts them is frailty, which is characterized by impaired strength, endurance, and balance and puts them at risk of disability and death.
Some of the same researchers also found that happier elderly people were less likely to have a stroke in the subsequent six year.

5.HAPPINESS LENGHTHENS OUR LIVES

In the end, the ultimate health indicator might be longevity—and here, especially, happiness comes into play. In perhaps the most famous study of happiness and longevity, the life expectancy of Catholic nuns was linked to the amount of positive emotion they expressed in an autobiographical essay they wrote upon entering their convent decades earlier, typically in their 20s.

All that said, the study of the health benefits of happiness is still young. It will take time to figure out the exact mechanisms by which happiness influences health, and how factors like social relationships and exercise fit in. But in the meantime, it seems safe to imagine that a happier you will be healthier, too.

TIPS TO INCREASE YOUR HAPPINESS:

  1. Stay active: Cardio exercises have been reported to be extremely effective when it comes to increasing happiness. Walking or playing football is not just good for your health but also your mood.
  2. Get some sleep: Lack of sleep can negatively affect your level of happiness. If you tend to struggle to stay asleep, you should consider meditating or reading before sleeping, avoiding caffeine, and drinking low amounts of water to avoid going to the bathroom frequently.
  3. Meditate: Regular meditation not only increases happiness but also provides a wide range of benefits such as improved quality of sleep and stress reduction.
  4. Consume nutritious foods: Studies have shown that the more vegetables and fruits you consume, the happier you will be. Consuming fruits and vegetables regularly will improve your health in the long run.
  5. Spend time out: Going outside for a walk or getting your hands dirty in the garden can significantly improve your mood.
  6. Help others: Helping others is one of the best ways to stay happy in the long run. Volunteering during your free time can help in improving your social skills and increasing the sense of meaning and purpose in your life.

TAKEAWAY:

There is no magic formula for achieving happiness. Remember, happiness is all about self-discovery. The only way to find what makes you happy is by experimenting. This activity is worth your time and energy because it will determine the quality of life that you’ll lead.
